We admit it: we’re fascinated by the hypocrisy of the left. It’s at the same time stomach-turning and riveting, like not being able to avert one’s eyes from a deadly automobile accident that is unfolding.
Enter Cory Booker, the uber-liberal Democrat who led the charge against poor, defenseless Bret Kavanaugh. You remember, Kavanaugh was the Supreme Court nominee (now an Associate Justice, thank the Lord) who was accused of sexual assault over thirty years ago when he was still a high school teen. The charges were leveled without corroboration, even by the accuser’s best friend who was supposedly a witness but who then denied it (actually, nobody remembered it). Kavanaugh was confirmed, but not until the left went ballistic, screaming and protesting (still) that an accuser must be believed without evidence of any kind. Cory “I’m Spartacus” Booker led the merciless onslaught.
He then put his left hand on my groin, over my jeans, and began to rub…He then used his other hand to grab my left hand with his right and pulled it over to touch him. At the same time, he disengaged from rubbing me and used his left hand to push me to my knees from my shoulder for what was clearly a move to have me perform oral sex on him. At that point, I pulled away quite violently…
…anonymous Booker accuser
But the reaction from the left is a little—shall we say—different this time. The national broadcast media—we all know how they roll—are not pushing the story like they immediately did with Kavanaugh. Nor are the Dems angrily and self righteously demanding Booker’s removal from office. No, now that it’s one of them, they are painting it as a smear without merit of any sort. And if this isn’t paradox enough for you, CNN actually defended him regarding a separate incident of sexual assault perpetrated by Booker when he was fifteen. Of course, when those excuses were (rightly, in our view) made by Kavanaugh supporters they were vilified. Now they are righteous when used to defend crazy Cory Booker.
For our part, we give no greater credence at this point to Booker’s uncorroborated bathroom accuser as we did to Kavanaugh’s. The irony is in the left’s hypocrisy in outrage over the accusations against Kavanaugh, and then defending their own when basically the same type of accusations are leveled.
The most amazing thing is, in the face of this continuing hypocrisy and dishonesty on the left, everyone is expecting a blue wave on election day in two weeks. Go figure!
God save us.
Guest contributor Pat McQueen has some thoughts to share with us regarding the recent Kavanaugh confirmation process and the role of some of the protesters. Pat is a financial consultant, retired banker and former State of Michigan Banking Commissioner, although he still has lucid moments. While his thoughts don’t conform to the usual satire we deal in, they still shed light on some of the shenanigans going on in political Washington. Enjoy.
All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts…
As You Like It…William Shakespeare
We were entertained by several “players” during the confirmation hearings. Nominee Brett Kavanaugh and his sexual assault accuser Dr. Ford both gave impressive performances. One may find this hard to believe, but my favorite performance was that of Ana Marie Archila, the “entertainer” performing in and around the elevator occupied by Senator Jeff Flake on or about September 28. Ms. Archila’s best line was screaming, “Look at me!”
Listening to CNN and Fox News during the Kavanaugh and Ford performances alternately, both networks provided what I would consider fair reviews for the most part.
When Ana Maria Archila gave her performance, however, I was listening to CNN. Archila’s passionate, and sometimes obnoxious, performance was reviewed in detail by CNN. The Archila reviews took a vastly different tone. CNN knew who Kavanaugh and Ford were. They had studied Ford for days and Kavanaugh for months. CNN had no idea who Archila was, yet they gave her an amazing amount of time, great deference and sympathy. My recollection is that CNN characterized Archila’s performance as powerful.
CNN fell into a trap. The trap was set by MoveOn.org, the Center for Popular Democracy and Ms. Archila. As it turns out, Ms. Archila is very good at what she does, with an annual salary and bonus in excess of $175,000 per year as co-executive director of the latter organization. The Wall Street Journal, page A19, Monday, October 8 is my source.
Archila is a paid activist that put on the performance of her life.
It shook Senator Flake and delayed and altered the confirmation process. CNN bought it hook, line and sinker, giving her instant credibility by providing her the stage, lots of time and a glowing reviews. Archila was either “fake news” reported by CNN or CNN was simply hoodwinked; your call.
If CNN had reported that Archila was a lobbyist would it have made a difference? Did CNN have an obligation to conduct any due diligence on Archila? Was CNN’s handling of the confrontation influenced by any biases or predispositions?
If I ran the NRA I would hire Archila. Maybe not; it is highly unlikely that such a riveting performance would be given any credibility by CNN on a pro-Second Amendment topic.
That is the problem.
Finally, if I were in charge of the U.S. Senate, I would not allow paid (or even unpaid) political activists unfettered access to members of the United States Senate during working hours. Flake ended up looking like a fool.
Unfortunately, CNN and its followers will continue to believe “Look at me!”
Ms. Archila, great acting! You should get an Oscar! You are vastly underpaid.
Are you like me, confused when national news events become convoluted headlines in the liberal press that bear little relationship to what actually happened? Well, help is on the way. HardWired News has performed an exhaustive scientific study of normal and liberal headlines, especially when they involve President Trump. We’ve constructed this handy translator to help ordinary people navigate from one to the other (thanks to confidant CW for the idea):
Well, we think you get the picture. Hopefully liberal headlines will now be more understandable to normal people with this handy translator. In the meantime, poo on fake news and Keep America Great
Hillary Clinton has been busy making public appearances ostensibly promoting her new book, What Happened, a list of pathetic excuses for her 2016 election loss to Donald Trump. HardWired News opined that it was simply a money-play (How to Tell Hillary Clinton Loves Money…). But some pundits claim her appearances sound more like political positioning for another run at the White House.
Recall that first she tested the waters unsuccessfully against the ultimate Democrat nominee Al “I invented the Internet” Gore in 2000, and again struck out as her party’s nominee in 2004 when John “Mr. Excitement” Kerry ran against Bush II. Then in 2008 the self-proclaimed heir-apparent-to-greatness lost in a trouncing to unaccomplished newcomer Barack Obama. Most famously, she took a woodshed beating from our current Commander-in-Chief, quirky Donald Trump in her 2016 failed attempt.
But now she is sounding candidate-like again, with posturing on national policy questions and assuming the role of denouncer of our sitting president. So how can we really know if she is preparing for yet another run?
HardWired News has discovered the Top Ten Ways to know if Hilarity is planning another presidential run in 2020. They are…
10 Publicly came out in support of “taking a knee” by NFL players during our National Anthem, another doofus move unpopular with mainstream voters just like her previous campaign positions
9 Wrote a humiliating book, What Happened, trying to convince herself that she now knows how to fix what went wrong
8 Sees that the ineffective Republicans, in control of Congress and the White House, are so hapless in trying to get anything done they couldn’t elect a dogcatcher in 2020
7 Taking “Tweeting” lessons to out-Tweet the Tweeter-in-Chief
6 Recently added twenty new pantsuits to her wardrobe
5 Signed up for charm school
4 Bought a fifty-five gallon drum of industrial strength No-Doze pills so she can stay awake long enough to campaign in the swing states she ignored and lost the last time
3 Mastering social media technology by commissioning Anthony Weiner, former husband of her closest advisor Huma Abedin, to teach her the fine art of Snap Chatting photos
2 Had longtime pal Harvey Weinstein recruit ten thousand Hollywood extras to pack her events and make it look like she is popular in return for undisclosed favors
And the Number One Way to Know Hillary Clinton is Running Again…
1 Had husband Bill Clinton’s mouth and one other undisclosed aperture surgically sewn up so they can’t humiliate her again
Can’t wait to see Hillary where she rightfully belongs (insert your preferred destination here…)
Popular dictionaries define racism as a belief that people’s characteristics, their qualities and faults, are determined by race (or ethnicity). It was behind Hitler’s murder of millions of Jews and countless lynchings and shootings of blacks in the American South. Needless to say, racism works profound injustice and is behind divisions that exist in America and many other societies. Anyone with an ounce of sense and a modicum of human experiences knows that qualities and faults are individual and not determined by a person’s ancestral group.
There has been enormous progress during my lifetime in improving racial justice and race relations. Nonetheless, racism continues to rear its ugly head. A notorious recent example was the shooting of nine black people in a Charleston, South Carolina church in 2015 by the demented white supremacist Dylann Roof. He is being tried for murder and very likely faces the death penalty. Periodic events such as this cause people to rightly remain on edge, and society needs to continue to be vigilant regarding any embedded racism.
But it’s possible that vigilance can be carried too far. Recently First Lady Melania Trump donated the iconic Dr. Seuss children’s books to school libraries as part of an effort to encourage reading by youngsters. The librarian in a Cambridge, Massachusetts elementary school rejected the gift saying the books were “steeped in racist propaganda, caricatures, and harmful stereotypes.” Then a black woman, a prominent Democrat and former Georgia legislator, LeDawn Jones, appeared on the Fox Network’s Tucker Carlson show to double down, saying that old Dr. Seuss was a well-known racist and a purveyor of racially charged images.
Maybe you’re as surprised as I am that The Cat in the Hat not to mention Thing One and Thing Two are racist. I can understand the evil Grinch—he was simply bad to the bone—and I’m not just saying that because he’s green.
It seems that Dr. Seuss, in his early years as a cartoonist, supported the World War II effort by creating some propaganda cartoons on behalf of the government lampooning Hitler and the Japanese war leader Tojo in, of course, an unflattering way. And he also illustrated ads for a popular insecticide product, Flit. Some of the illustrations contained figures that could be fairly construed as unacceptable stereotypes of Arabs and black Africans. It’s noteworthy that these kinds of illustrations were in the context of the times and—while clearly insensitive especially by today’s standards—were in the mainstream then, particularly so with our government’s war propaganda effort. One could fault FDR as much or more so than Dr. Seuss for the propaganda illustrations, and I don’t hear mainstream Democrats calling for the boycott of Franklin Roosevelt. Dr. Seuss also was an outspoken voice for racial justice for African-Americans and published many illustrations supporting his point of view, which was quite unpopular at the time.
Even if you believe the venerable Seuss should be condemned for his racial insensitivity in spite of his public stand for racial justice, it’s hard to justify bashing Sam-I-Am or The Cat in the Hat. After all, the sins of the father should not be visited upon the sons, as Shakespeare taught us in The Merchant of Venice. It seems to me there are plenty of real racial villains—David Duke, George Wallace, Dylann Roof…I’d name more but we’d run out of room. Spotlighting Dr. Seuss and his cast of iconic characters as racist villains seems to cheapen the conversation about racism in America and undermine the credibility of those who are speaking out about it. Maybe, as Dr. Seuss taught us, we ought to think a little more carefully before we condemn.
“Think left and think right and think low and think high.
Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!”
You gotta’ love The National Enquirer, you know—the sleazy tabloid found near grocery checkouts that your mother used to glance at when she thought no one was looking? It was as nutty as it was outrageous. Here are a few of their iconic headlines:
Supreme Court Justice Scalia—Murdered by a Hooker (May 2016)
DEA Sting! Jeb Bush Snorted Cocaine on Night Dad Became Pres (Feb. 2016)
Rita Hayworth says…”I’m back from the dead: two years a Zombie” (Dec. 1968)
Cosby had Son Murdered (October 2015)
Like your goofy Uncle Barney’s outlandish stories he weaves after a few toddies, the attention-grabbing premises—built on the tiniest grains of truth—are too scurrilous to resist.
But now the venerable Enquirer has some competition. In the face of falling ratings, CNN has adopted an Enquirer-like disregard for realism, spinning every story possible with an “ain’t Trump awful” twist to appeal to the side of liberals that desperately wants to believe the silly articles. Here are a few headlines from or about CNN:
“Donald Trump’s 57 Most Outrageous Quotes” (CNN Aug. 2017)
“Donald Trump’s last 7 days are just mind-bogglingly bad” (CNN Sept. 2017)
”CNN Faces Backlash over Doctored Trump Video” (CNBC July 2017)
These are just a few recent ones. And if you think I’m overreacting, scholars at the notoriously liberal Harvard conducted a study of news coverage about Donald Trump. They found CNN stories about the president were negative 93% of the time, the worst of any outlet studied. The Washington Examiner (May 2017) said of the study
“..coverage was so negative it is hard to argue it was anywhere near neutral…CNN’s Trump coverage was 93% negative..negative stories outpaced positive by 13-1”
Hey, but maybe you think CNN’s exaggerated anti-Trump spin is just good business. If so, you’d be wrong. During the study period, CNN continued to have weak ratings. According to TVNewser (adweek), a website devoted to covering media developments, CNN was only 8th among cable news programs, while Fox News easily held the Number One spot.
So is there a lesson here? Maybe it’s if your theory is “sell the sizzle, not the steak” in news coverage, at least make sure there’s a real steak there. Otherwise, you might just go hungry—at least TV viewer-wise.
HardWired News bends over backward (not like you think) to avoid prurient themes. But we couldn’t resist this one.
Fox News reported that our scientists—backed by generous government grants, no doubt—are working double-time to perfect sex robots. You heard me: droids (as in “androids,” not the phone) are being developed to look and act like fully functioning sex partners for the truly lonely. Apparently, they will not only have comely appearances and operational “parts,” but will possess artificial intelligence, computer generated speech and the right actions to mimic passionate moves and emotions of real lovers. No sense wasting those research dollars on things like vaccines for infectious diseases or cancer cures. Is this a great country, or what?
Actually, there was an eerily similar theme in the recent AMC cable sci-fi series, HUM∀NS. In it, synthetic people fulfilled the every wish (including sexual) of their owners. As you might expect, it didn’t end well if you don’t like murderous, rebelling robots unleashed on humanity. But the latest effort reported by Fox is anything but fiction. Apparently, it is quite real.
Now if you’re like me, you might think no one in their right mind would go for this. But then you think of the liberals, with their plastic programs that really achieve nothing but make them feel good with artificially induced satisfaction. Things like passing gun laws that don’t really reduce crime (Chicago), outlawing “hate” crimes (like crimes aren’t really bad unless we label them hateful), banning “offensive” words or phrases (such as “freshman”, “American dream”, “illegal alien”, “radical Islamic terrorist” in California schools), or of course destroying statues of historic characters who had a nasty point of view. One wonders if they lean back and smoke a cigarette after implementing these things.
Once we understand the sex robots are a metaphor for the liberals, well…it’s all good I guess. At least it might keep the libs harmlessly occupied and thereby reduce the damage they do to our country. Maybe they’ll be included as a mandatory benefit under a new ObamaCare on steroids, or should I say Viagra.
After all, what could go wrong?
This one is just too good to pass up.
Fox News reported on a protest at Berkeley, home of the University of California, that went a little…shall we say…awry.
Of course, you remember Berkeley. HardWired News has covered their hypocrisy and bigotry in our article The Ascent of Bigotry. You know, where uber-liberal faculty and their student minions physically beat, Mace and burn speakers who have a different political view than theirs, all in the name of peace, love, tolerance, and diversity. If people weren’t getting hurt it would be just plain funny.
Anyway, Berkeley has taken things to a new high (or low, depending on your perspective). During recent left-right dueling protests, an “Empathy Tent” was set up to allow protesters to come in and unwind, bond with the other side, and meditate on the more important things in life. Peace and love, bro.
But—you couldn’t make this stuff up—violence broke out IN the Empathy Tent. Chilling protesters with opposite views resorted to violence, almost collapsing the tent and resulting in four arrests. One man was arrested for carrying a deadly weapon. An extreme-left activist woman, dedicated according to her to peace, acceptance and love, beat the crap out of a right-leaning man. Unlike the peace-children of an earlier era, these hippies-born-too-late have developed a pretty good left hook. And looking at these photos of arrested combatants, we think we smell a romance blooming. Ah….love!
In this day of new thousand-dollar iPhones coming out every few months, apps to hook up adulterers, artificial intelligence and the like, it’s good to see some old standbys that never change. And that would be the conceited hypocrisy at the venerable University of California at Berkeley. Go Golden Bears! Or should it be “Golden Neanderthals”?
In a recent HardWired News article (Hillary’s Blame Game – September 8) we opined she was writing her latest and most personally embarrassing book, What Happened, not to exonerate herself, but simply to make money. But how can we really know if she cares more about money than her reputation?
Well, HardWired News has figured it out. Here are the…
Top Ten Ways to Know That Hillary Clinton Cares More About Money Than Her Reputation, Public Service, or Just About Anything Else
10 Worked for a law firm that solicited huge legal fees (in which she shared) representing people with lucrative business before the state of Arkansas while her husband is governor
9 Accepted EXACTLY $100,000 in options trading (something she never did before or since) profits from a broker who kept “poor” records and was an operative of a large company lobbying for a lucrative bill in the Arkansas legislature, which her husband, the governor, then promptly signed into law
8 Accused of secretly investing in and soliciting loans for the speculative White Water real estate development scheme in Arkansas that contributed to the defrauding of investors and a failure of a financial institution while she was First Lady and her husband Governor of Arkansas
7 Entered the White House as First Lady in 1992 reportedly “dead broke”, then announced a net worth of over one hundred million dollars following years of service as a senator and secretary of state
6 Created a massive charity that funds much of her travel, salaries for her minions, and expands her personal influence, then granted official government access and favors selectively to those who made large (megamillions) donations
5 Leveraged her public service experiences by writing two memoirs (before this recent one) involving huge advances, book tours and millions in royalties, then used the resulting publicity to launch a presidential campaign
4 While Secretary of State, had her husband’s speaking fees from those with business pending before her office doubled
3 Charged her own massive speaking fees for secret addresses to Wall Street bankers outlining her political promises to them, then ran for president with their full financial and political support on a (wink-wink) anti-business platform
2 In contravention of a legal order, deleted 30,000 “personal” emails that could shed light on her questionable financial dealings from the server used for her official government business
And the number one way we can tell if Hillary Clinton cares most about money…
1 Wrote a humiliating book portraying herself for all of posterity as a delusional, classless crybaby-loser, but makes a load of dough in the process
